these videos show how meg whitman sayss one thing in english an anothe in spanish. in these videos whitman contradicts her self in what she says. its interesting how in spanish she says shes against S.B 1070 but in the ones before it she says that she is against an amnesty. this just shows how meg whitman is willing to screw a race group to get what she wants. know the question is will she do the same to the rest of California?

who is more important in education? students, teachers or parents?
In my opinion students are the most important because if they dont want to learn something there is nothing anyone can do to make them learn it. this is because sometimes we as students are learning things that have nothing to do with what we want to become in life.for example i wish that i wouldnt have to take so many math classes because im not going to be a math teacher so why should i learn it. and although people say that no matter what you need math for everything they also have to realize that we as students are never going to use math like trig and pre-calc in real life ever. so instead of learning things like this i think we should be taking classes that we are interested in and that way we would put more effort into it.
secondly i think that parents are next important part because they are the ones that teach us as kids morals. And if they do a bad job then how do they expect their kids to do any better.and finally i think teachers are the last but not least. this is becsue its their job to teach students but as i said before not all teachers do a very good job and later on they are blaming the sudents for not trying when in reality it was their incompetence because they didnt have the utilities to teach these kids correctly. but at last we need all three so that we as students can do better in life.

should the us millitary use "alternative" ways of torture to get information out of terrorists?
I believe that the millitary should not use allternative ways of torture to get information out of terrorists. Because i think that we as americans wouldn't want another country doing the same to our soldiers if they were captured. And although many people may say that getting information out of terrorist could help prevent another surprise attack .I think that it could also get the united states in trouble because the information could be false and instead of preventing casualties it would create more. Also using alternative ways of torture would also cost more money because we would have to higher private contractors so that we (the united states) don't look like barbarians.
Also if we used other ways of torture it would violate the geneva convention and the reason why they were formed. it would also put in question what people think of the united states and its goverment.we are looked as one of the strongest countries bevause even when folling the law we still come out on top. braking the geneva convention rules would probably make us look weak and make other cuntries loose much of the respect they have for us . and finally i think that the U.S. millitary shouldnt use alternatiive ways of torture because it would be in violation of our constitution. mostly of the 14th ammendment.and although the prisioners might not be kept here in the united states their rights should be put into play just like we would want other countries to take in considiration our soldiers tights if they were to be captured.

In a perfect world, what and how would you change the educational system in our country?
IN A PERFECT WORLD EVERYONE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE EITHER AP OR HONOR CLASSES SO THAT THEY COULD BE CHALLENGED AND FIND THEIR POTENTIAL. EDUCATION WOULD BE A PRIORITY IN LIFE. BECAUSE AS AMERICANS WE ARE NOT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF THE OPORTUNITIES WE ARE GIVEN. STUDENTS, SCHOOLS AND DISTRICTS WOULDN’T BE THE ONLY WAY TO MEASURE A SCHOOL. INSTEAD MANY SCHOOLS WOULD BE MEASURED BY THE PERFORMANCE OF A STUDENT IN AN ACADEMIC TEST. I.E. SAT, ACT, AND FINALS. TEACHERS WOULD BE EVALUATED MORE TO SEE HOW WELL THEY PERFORM TEACHING AND HOW WELL A STUDENT UNDERSTANDS WHAT THE TEACHER IS TEACHING. INB THE OLD DAYS EDUCATION HAD A PURPOSE.WHICH WAS TO HELP STUDENTS FIND WHAT THEY WERE GOOD AT AND TO CHALLENGE THEM SO THAT THEY WOULD BE BETTER PREPERED FOPR THEIR FUTURE AFTER THEY FINISHED SCHOOL AND MOVED ON.
NOW IT HAS CHANGED. MANY STUDENTS ARENT CHALLENGING THEM SELFS AND TEACHERS DON’T CARE EITHER. MANY TEACHERS NOW ONLY FOCUS ON THEIR AP STUDENTS BECAUSE THEY KNOW THAT THOSE STUDENTS ARE THE ONES THAT ARE GONNA MAKE THEM LOOK GOOD. I ALSO THINK THAT IN A PERFECT WORLD WE WOULD ONLY BE LEARNING THINGS THAT WE ARE ACTUALLY GONNA USE IN LIFE AND NOT WASTE STUDENTS TIME TEACHING THEM SOMETHING THAT HAS NO PURPOSE.FOR EXAMPLE HALF OF THE HISTORY CLASSES THAT WE TAKE IN MY OPINION SHOULDN’T EVEN BE THOUGTHT. ALSO SCHOOLS SHOULD BE GETTING MORE MONEY PER PUPIL SO THAT EACH STUDENT HAS THE SAME OPORTUNITY TO LEARN IF THEY WANT TO LEARN. ALSO I BELIEVE THAT WE SHOULD BE TOUGHT BY EDUCATIRS WHO ACTUALLY LIKE TO TEACH AND KNOW WHATS AT STAKE. FINALLY, STUDENTS DON’T DESERVE TO BE IN A CLASS WERE HALF THE STUDENTS DON’T WANT TO LEARN AND THE TEACHERS ARE FOCUSING MORE ON DICIPLINARY ACTIONS THAN ON TEACHING

For or against SB 1070?
I am against senate bill 1070 because the government of Arizona doesn’t really know what its doing. According to the article “Arizona passes SB1070 Immigration bill to curb illegal immigrants” by Yuliva Talmazan the government of Arizona issued the bill because a local rancher named Robert Krentz. It is alleged Krentz, 58, was killed after a confrontation with illegal immigrants in a potential case of drug cartel scout, theft or retaliation. This means that the government should be looking for the cartels and passing bills that can actually help prosecute this people who are here in the United States just making harm. Illegal immigration has no role to play here so I don’t see why the state of Arizona would do something like that to families who are just looking for a better life. I’m also against it because if all illegal immigrants are deported then Arizona will loose much of its income. According to the article “economic impact of SB1070” by Lupita Murillo says that One mall official told them that Ross, and JC Penney attribute 60% of their business to Mexico. That means that at the end these stores will probably close because of fewer sales.
I think senate bill 1070 is a good idea because most illegal immigrants in the United States are gang affiliated. This can cause much harm to those who are here trying to get a better life legally. Senate bill 1070 will secure the state of Arizona more making sure that no illegal alien or suspicious person can come through Nogales, AZ with out a valid U.S citizenship (green card). Through this the state of Arizona will figure out new ways to maintain its economy up and so that legal people can have a job. And maybe they will help patrol the Mexican border and Canadian border so that the states can have a better life. A batter life would come because less immigrants would equal less violence. As well as less spending which might help boost our hole economy.

After chatting with my peers this is what I figured out that after our discussion in class I came out knowing more than I thought. At first we talked about how it would affect the country if all the soldiers came home. This is because we would need to either create more jobs or let other workers go so that the returning soldiers have a well steady job. Another solution would be to create more factory jobs like we did during WWII, but with the way are economy is here in the U.S. They wouldn’t be assured a secured job that could provide them with everything they need. A G.I. bill could help the soldiers by helping them with rent and such while they find jobs. But it won’t last long and soon even the soldiers will be out of a job.
I told them that it would be better if the soldiers stayed at war because at least in Afghanistan they can make a profit. But my peers said that we should just take over Afghanistan and make it part of the U.S. that way we could always keep an eye on them. Although we would probably have more problems because as they pointed out, the Taliban and al Qaeda would be trying to spread in the U.S. We all think that the United States should take the minerals as a payment for all the help we have offered them. Most of their arguments were backed up by facts that they researched. So the conversation was very interesting as seeing the different points that we each had.

In your opinion, what is the most important economical issue facing the United States right now?
In my opinion the most important economical issue that the United States is facing right now is the war on Iraq. Because the government is spending billions of dollars every week so that the troops can survive and to send even more. In my opinion its also the biggest economical issue because the government has to raise peoples taxes so that they can pay for all the guerilla war fare they have against Iraq. Also because we keep sending troops over seas we keep spending money on guns and other weapons that we don’t really need. Right now we are a trillion dollars in debt just because of that one war. Now if we just stopped this war that money that we are spending on the troops could be used to help better our economy.
Because of how things are going right now I believe that we might be heading into another depression. This is because we are spending a lot of money on weapons we don’t need. For example we have more nuclear weapons then any other country but we don’t use it! So why do we want it? I know that recently scientists discovered that there are rare minerals in Afghanistan. These minerals are valued at about 1 trillion dollars. That means that the U.S could win something from this war, but we are still loosing more money on the Iraq war which in my opinion shouldn’t even be happening. And even though the government knows that we are loosing money they are willing to cut spending from other things that are not war related because they know that their solution is just to keep raising taxes.
